Every child is unique in terms of exploring the world through verbal and non-verbal mediums of communication, and they are original in expressing creativity, innovation, and ingenuity of thought, practices, and ideas.

Any successful teaching-learning practice should kindle creative and critical thinking abilities of children. Our pedagogical approach should trigger their active listening and observation skills, be it in the classroom or out in nature. It requires planned strategies for creating enabling environment for art-integrated learning. Art-Integrated Learning is a teaching-learning approach based on learning 'through the arts' and 'with the arts': it is a process where art becomes the medium of teaching-learning, a key to understanding concepts and acquiring knowledge. 

Art integrated learning will help the children acquire increased self-confidence and self-understanding, enhanced communication skills, and improved cognition. When the children explore the world through the medium both visual and performing arts, they indeed explore their “self” in relation to their society and environment. They start accepting the plurality of the social, cultural, ecological, economic and political realities and respect the diversity in every aspect of the human life. They acquire the finer skills of creative problem solving, dialoguing, exercising freedom of expression, gender sensitivity.  

Vaanavil is an Art Integrated Learning Approach promoted by FEATHERS, wherein the kids are facilitated to explore creatively at their individual pace both in visual and performing arts for better understanding and construction of knowledge about different concepts.
